This band is coming to Omaha soon...I think they're kinda hip. I was researching heavy metal for a 7th grade class and came upon this info:

Cool, huh?

This weekend I attended my very first Husker home game! My thoughts (and comparisons with KU):

Many people have probably stopped reading this since I haven't updated it since June...but, JenJen inspired me to try to start this thing up again. Perhaps I will post my pics on here instead of crowding everyone's email space...but, alas, I don't know how to do that! A little help?

Ah, middle school...the age of body odor, clumsiness, acne, and erections because every girl around is practically flashing you because her skirt is WAY too short! Yeah, I said it...I witnessed a very awkward moment between a 7th grade boy and an 8th grade girl walking by in the hallway. He quickly sat down next to the fake tree in the commons. I assume he waited it out and went to class. Poor kid...that must be tough.

Oh, and speaking of middle school BO...I had to get an air freshener for my classroom because it has smelled like ass in my room for the past 2 weeks...now it smells like "Clean Linen" :)

Summer rules! I truly thought I would miss going to school everyday and seeing my little student's faces, but that is not the case at all. I love sleeping in and having the day completely to myself! Too bad I just started a waitressing job...August will come too soon.

On the last day of school, my assistant principal had a party at his house. That sounds extremely lame, but lo and behold, it was one of the best parties I have attended this year. Teachers can really slam 'em down :) We played with his kid's light sabers, jumped on the trampoline, listened to him drop the "f-bomb" about a thousand times, bad-mouthed some of the students, and talked about everything and nothing for 5 hours.

Plans for this summer include a couple of weddings, the Weezer/Cake concert in Kansas, a trip to Chicago and Colorado, and camping with friends. Can't wait!

Bastard kids!! Not all, just 4. I allowed 4 students to play my guitar this morning during class...after class I realized that my Weezer guitar pick was missing! The whole staff knows about it, so hopefully it'll show up, but if not, those kids will be after school on the last full day of school scouring my room for it. Bastard kids!!

I am completely excited for school to be over...I never thought I'd be this anxious! I start my new summer job as a server at a new steakhouse in town...I'm hoping to make mega-bucks so I can do some travelling at the end of the summer. I'm also very excited about seeing two long lost friends on Friday! Yay Star Wars at Cinema Center! Anytime is fine with me :)

It's been almost a month since my last post...sorry :( It is the end of the school year, which means I am finishing up my very first year as a full-fledged adult! I feel really comfortable with things right now...I was a nervous wreck back in August, but I already feel like a seasoned pro (even though I still have 30+ years of teaching/learning to do). Things are moving forward so quickly...it actually brings tears to my eyes thinking about everything that has happened in the past 5 years.

I guess I've entered a reflection stage in my life. Old friends, new friends, KU, past relationships, a new and wonderful relationship, everything I've learned, roomates (good and bad), family, my grandma that passed away, my senior recital, my college graduation, my first and only interview, the first day of my new job and how scared I was, the first concert I conducted, the first musical I directed, the last concert for my 8th grade students. Last night was the last 8th grade concert/honors night and during their last song, I started crying. I can't believe how much they have grown since August! And now they're leaving me...I realized how much it sucks that I will have to say goodbye to students every single May for a great deal of my life. I hope it gets easier with time.

And now my very best friend is moving so very far away. Anyway, sorry to bore any of you...this blog was more for me anyway :) I'm excited to see two of you very soon! It's been awhile.
